DirectViz Solutions (DVS), is a high-level, strategic consulting services firm that meets mission IT services needs for government clients. We are looking to hire a fulltime IT Support/Desktop Specialist. The work location will be Newport, Rhode Island. This position requires US Citizenship.  

 

SUMMARY

Investigates and resolves software and hardware problems of customer users by performing the following duties:

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Serves as primary interface to customer leadership.
  • Provides assistance to customer staff in prototyping new technologies, addressing non-routine network and email issues, executing large hardware/software installation/migrations,  and facilitating the accomplishment of Information Security Activities.
  • Interacts with the customer to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context and organizational strategic direction. Defines scope, plans and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots and resolves network issues
  • Troubleshoots and resolves website issues
  • Administers,  configures and troubleshoots VTC equipment
  • Diagnoses and resolves problems in response to client inquiries
  • Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on user's premises.
  • Interacts with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development personnel to restore services and/or identify and correct core problems.
  • Assists in the receipt, delivery, and reallocation of IT equipment
  • Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains customer hardware and software
  • Services standard desktop and web-based applications
  • Confirms and prioritizes project plans and deliverables with the customer.
  • Conceptualizes, constructs, tests and implements integrated network, hardware and software solutions, distributed computing solutions, and/or physical and logical communications networks for the customer.
  • Collects, identifies, defines and organizes detailed user and information technology  requirements.
  • Delivers corrective actions for all trouble requests through telephone consultation and/or hands-on troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning systems and programs including but not limited to virus removal, software reloads, and network connections
  • Coordinates and collaborates with others in analyzing collected requirements to ensure plans and identified solutions meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Participates in business and technical information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancement and conversions.
  • Understands and uses appropriate tools to analyze, identify and resolve business and or technical problems.
  • Prepares system documentation.
  • Establishes and maintains security, integrity and business continuity controls and documents.
  • Tracks requests and provides performance summaries.
  • Stays current on emerging tools, techniques and technologies.
  • Assists information engineers on application of specialized knowledge to coding, testing, implementation and documentation projects.
  • Sends Weekly Status Report to Supervisor by 3:00PM Eastern Time each Friday or the last day of the standard work week.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Five-to-ten years professional experience and familiarity with computing practices, software, and equipment; AND a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or other technical field.

 

CERTIFICATIONS

CompTIA Security+ CE is required.
